Open Arms assists women and their partners by providing medical, scientific, evidence-based information to the patient so they can make informed decisions about their pregnancy.
We Offer Free Ultrasounds
One of the most popular services we offer is a prenatal ultrasound. Other clinics charge anywhere from $250-$400 for this diagnostic procedure. Open Arms offers free ultrasounds from as early as 5-6 weeks along. Ultrasounds are important in the early stages of pregnancy to:
- Confirm that there is a baby in the uterus
- Determine accurate gestational age
- Detect a fetal heartbeat
Early obstetric ultrasounds can help prevent major complications before they arise. For instance, up to 30% of women may experience a miscarriage before they even realize they are pregnant. While home pregnancy tests can sometimes lead to panic and confusion, an ultrasound offers clear confirmation and valuable information. All of our ultrasounds are interpreted by a licensed medical doctor.
One significant risk identified through ultrasound is ectopic pregnancy, which occurs when the fetus develops outside the uterus. Many clinics that do not provide ultrasounds may overlook this critical condition. If you are pregnant and considering an abortion, it is essential to receive an ultrasound. Without this examination, the location of the fetus remains unknown. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, a chemical abortion would not be effective, and attempting to terminate the pregnancy could lead to severe complications, potentially resulting in serious injury or even death for the mother.
Some clinics charge women for an abortion based on a false positive from a home pregnancy test, often without performing an ultrasound. If there is no baby in the uterus, there is no medical procedure to bill for. No patient should have to pay for a service they are not receiving.
